Last update: 4/14/2019 at 12:23 AM CST (this story was previous live). Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp (all social media networks Facebook does own) experienced it's second outage this year worldwide for users after Facebook's biggest outage in it's history on March 13th, 2019. The outage occurred for more than 2 hours and this report was updated live. Things were live again around 9:45 AM for all services. According to users reporting the outage on downdetector.com, this is what was down for Facebook users that reported the problem...
When it was down, I tried every method of using this social media networks possible. For Facebook, I tried logging in, posting, viewing profiles, and none of that worked except for logging in. For Instagram, I tried sending a DM, refreshing my profile, viewing stories, and none of that worked.
On the March 13th outage, Facebook has used Twitter to update users on the current situation for the outage, and we expected them to do it again... but didn't. Instead, The Verge reached out to Facebook, and The Verge came back with this... “Earlier today, some people may have experienced trouble connecting to the family of apps,” says a Facebook spokesperson in a statement to The Verge. “The issue has since been resolved; we’re sorry for any inconvenience." Who knows if this will happen again. Was Facebook, Instagram, and/or WhatsApp down for you? Let us know in the comments!
