Now's never been a better time to be a Mint Mobile customer. Along with other carriers taking steps to make the coronavirus situation easier for everyone, Mint Mobile just went right at it and decided to give customers free unlimited data for all until April 14th. But there's a catch... of course there's a catch. This COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic is something that's affected millions of us around the world. Even though it hasn't hit the U.S. quite as hard as China, Spain, and other companies, we're still feeling the effects pretty hard with restaurants and bars closing until certain dates, or "until further notice." But that definitely doesn't mean that we should lose touch with loved ones. Imagine losing touch with loved ones because of the coronavirus, especially if you're in an emergency situation. Instead of waiving fees and extending bill due dates like other carriers besides T-Mobile, Mint Mobile is offering free unlimited data for all from now through April 14, 2020. Unfortunately, there's a catch with that too like most things in this world. If you didn't see it already and you're a Mint Mobile customer, Mint Mobile did send out this email to all subscribers of the network on March 15th (the day before the posting of this article) with the subject "Your Plan is Now Unlimited". That's nice at all, except it actually isn't... you still have to go through some steps to get your unlimited data. It's kind of misleading, but here's how you get your "unlimited" data: Step 1: Download or update to the most recent version of the Mint Mobile app. You can find the app on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store for Android and iOS. Step 2: Tap "account" then tap "buy more data" Step 3: Add data in 3GB increments. 95% of data add-on must be used prior to adding an additional data add-on. THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
So it is a little bit of a hassle just to get this unlimited data, but it is nice that they are providing it regardless. We did wish though that it worked like how T-Mobile's doing it where T-Mobile is offering free unlimited data for everyone with 20GB of mobile hotspot for two months, and customers don't have to do anything but wait for it to show up on their account. A little misleading since your account isn't actually unlimited until you go adding 3GB allotments to your account (which still technically isn't "unlimited") but it's still very much appreciated to see. So what do you think about this? Do you agree with me that Mint Mobile should've made this automatic so customers don't have to be charged (even though they are getting a refund right after their order)?
